“Above Water” is a graphic novel that tells a story in a future reality. Inspired by Brazil’s colonization history, it reflects on the relationship between society and nature in a world affected by climate change. The visual style is of a lo-fi zine and reminiscent of risograph printing. The colour palette simulate Rio de Janeiro’s rainforests and give the final product a tropical aesthetic. Pencil illustrations with digital rendering (typography, speech bubbles and colour). Student work at MacEwan University, 2021.
